Why Dijon West?
There are hundreds of commercial rental properties in San Antonio. I have my choice of favorites and Dijon West is one of them. Dijon West is great a great real estate value for six reasons, location, location, and location, and price, price, and price.
Dijon West is located in the Quarry Area, which is part of zip code 78209, often referred to as OH NINE, along with the generic area term, Alamo Heights. While there is an incorporated City of Alamo Heights, Alamo Heights generally refers to the extended area beyond the incorporated city and includes the zip code 78209 and the boundaries of the Alamo Heights School District. Included in Alamo Heights are three incorporated cities of City of Terrell Hills, City of Olmos Park and City of Alamo Heights, as well as, part of the City of San Antonio proper. OH NINE is well known around the state for its style. The quarry area is that area of Alamo Heights that included the quarry, plant, offices and residences of employees of the Alamo Portland Cement Company and the immediate vicinity.
Dijon West is located directly behind apartment row in the Quarry Area on Treeline Drive, but not part of this group of apartments that run along Treeline between Basse and Sunset, just north and east of the Alamo Quarry Market. Apartments in the Treeline Drive area have published rental prices approaching $2,000 per month.
Dijon West is on Lorenz, a street mostly known for the St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church that for years was the place of faith for many of the laborers at the cement plant. Dijon West is across the street from this historic San Antonio church, firmly embedded in the residential area.
Alamo Cement is a San Antonio
institution that now has generated two significant San Antonio landmarks. It was
formed on January 19, 1880, as Alamo Portland and Roman Cement Co. (the first portland
cement plant west of the Mississippi River and the second in the United States).
The plant was located at what is now Brackenridge Park.
The original quarry is now the Japanese
Tea Gardens and Sunken
Gardens Theatre. They are located not far from the Quarry Market Area to the
south towards downtown. The Sunken Garden Theater, because of its acoustics, is
a preferred venue for symphonic, jazz, dance, drama, and pop music performances.
The second quarry pit is now the Quarry Golf
Course. The Alamo Quarry Market
is the renovated remains of the plant and immediate adjacent area. The cement company
offices and laboratory are now the Cementville
Laboratory and Café. In 1908, Alamo Cement Co. changed its name to San Antonio
Portland Cement Co. The company operated a new plant near Alamo Heights in north
San Antonio until 1986. In July 1979, the company was purchased by new owners and
the name was changed back to Alamo Cement Co., the original name adopted almost
100 years before. In 1981, Alamo completed construction of its current modern facility
in northeast Bexar County, known as the 1604 Plant. The cement was grounded at the
Alamo Heights plant until the summer of 1986, when the new finishing plant was completed
at the 1604 Plant site and development of the former quarry into the its present
form began.
These are pictures of the Quarry Golf Course. Please note the Alamo Quarry Smokestacks in the background of the first image. Also, the water tower along the right horizon of the second picture is what is left of Texas Military Institute’s Alamo Height’s location. It is there place where Douglas MacArthur graduated from high school in 1897. TMI sold its Alamo Heights campus to real estate developers and moved into larger quarters further north of the city with the proceeds.

According to the Quarry Market’s web site it is a mixed retail, dining, exercise, and entertainment development that has thrived since its 1997 opening.
The renovation incorporated many parts of the original plant including the 200-foot-tall smokestacks that serve as its visual centerpiece, as well as, the old entrance marquis and some equipment which give the Quarry Market a unique appearance.
To me the development is comparable to the Ghirardelli Square development of the Ghirardelli Chocolate factory near San Francisco’s Fisherman’s Wharf, yet on a grander scale. You can see the smokestacks in the picture of the pond at the Quarry Golf Course above. The renovated original plant building is home to the Quarry Market’s anchor tenants, a large multi screen theatre, Borders bookstore and Bally’s fitness center. The theatre houses and displays the original cement plant rock grinder in a light and smoke show.
Other tenants include clothiers include Jos. A Bank, Just Add Water, Banana Republic, and world famous Texas brand custom Lucchese Boots. Household retailers include Renovation Hardware, Whole Earth Provision Company and Laura Ashley. Food sources are Whole Foods, Starbucks (24 hours), P.F. Chang’s, Canyon Café, Fire Bowl, and Piates Italian, to mention just a few.

You may call me at 210 473-0999 for help, advice, or information at anytime!!! Or, if you prefer, you may email me at don@donsapartments.com, or both.
Please tell the on site leasing agent that you fund the apartment through Don Reser or Dons Apartments. You are entitled to choose your representative. We also need to be listed on your lease application, when you decide on your new home. The standard lease application in use in the San Antonio market (after many information questions) asks how you found out about their apartment property. Specifically the form block is entitled “Why You Rented Here.” You only have to write Don Reser in the first two blanks on the application. You do not need or have to answer any other questions in that block of the application. Your answer will not effect the results of your application or the cost of renting in any way. If you are having trouble with the application or any other aspect of the leasing process, just call or email me for help (210 473-0999 or don@donsapartments.com).
Helping people get the information to make good decisions for their future is what I enjoy doing. I will be glad to personally help you check out apartments or houses. Thank you again for considering and choosing us to help you.

Okay, I hope this information helps you with your choice of a place to live in San Antonio. I am a Realtor and if you decide to lease at Dijon West , I would appreciate your listing me, DON RESER, as your referring source on the lease application, when talking to Pam. Pam is great help when you need it at the office. Here is my blurb about how I am paid for helping you:
Listing me as the referring source is how I am paid for our services. My services are free to you - I receive a referral fee if you are directed to AND lease a property that I referred you to. I need your assistance however...please write my name on any guest cards you complete as the person who referred you to the property. Also if you do lease REMIND your leasing agent to write my name AGAIN in the space provided on your lease application form.
This in NO WAY affects the amount of your rent or your deposit. This is possible because my fee is paid by the apartment communities advertising/marketing budget. When you do lease, please send me an email or phone me directly to let me know where you have leased and your apartment number so that I may follow up with your leasing office.
I thank you, my daughters thank you, my dog thanks you, my ex wife thanks you and my girlfriend, too.
I recently received this email unsolicited email from a customer:
“HELLO HOW ARE YOU? I HOPE ALL IS WELL FOR YOU, AS FOR ME I AM JUST GOING TO SCHOOL, ITS A PRETTY TOUGH COURSE. SO I JUST WANTED TO SAY THANK YOU FOR ALL OF YOUR HELP I AM VERY HAPPY WITH MY APARTMENT. I WOULD HAVE BEEN SO LOST WITHOUT YOUR HELP. ONCE MORE THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING.” - Asucena
If Dijon West is not the apartment for you, then please consider telling me more about what you want and need. My name is Don Reser and I have been involved with real estate since 1984. I consider myself the very best locator in San Antonio and I CAN HELP YOU, but I need you to HELP ME. Unless you are willing to allow me to help you by giving me the time to show you personally at least three apartments, it is really going to be hard. You are welcome to look around on your own, but generally it is inefficient and you will become tired and confused. (There are 700 commercial properties in San Antonio.) I will send you an email list of properties with directions to help you look on your own, and you are welcome to use my help this way. We have two databases to look at properties.
My experience is that it takes about 4 hours of viewing with an experienced locator at a minimum to find the right place. If you invest 8 hours with me, I will be able to show you at least two places you would want to rent at for your price. Okay so spend all the time you want on your own and then when you really want to get the job done, call me. Because of the internet I know that many of you are moving from out of town and are very anxious about finding a place to live. I can assure you we can get it done in one day. We need to make an appointment for the day you are in town. If you have to know ahead of time, you will need to fly in and I will assist you in evaluating all your leasing options in one day.
Finding a new apartment ranks up there with going to the dentist for no fun, but I can contribute my extensive knowledge of the city and the experiences of the other customers of Apartment Selector to help you.
Okay, please call me anytime at 210 473-0999 to reserve a day, or morning, or afternoon for this process or to discuss your situation.
