This page is an index to properties that have indicated to us that they will take a lease of a term of three months or less. This is considered a short term lease in the apartment industry. Apartments have an additional charge for a short term lease (3 months or less). This “up charge” will very from property to property and from time to time. An often heard charge is “market rate” plus at least $100 per month. This means the special rates and discounts are not available and there is usually an additional charge of at least $100 per month. In some cases the up charge is can be $200 per month or more. In other cases the up charge is couched in terms of a percentage. Recently the percentage charge has been running 30% to 33% on month to month leases and 20% of three month leases. The percentage up charge can be as much as 50%. On the other hand, you might find a property that will charge you as little as $50 per month or may no up charge .
